Invite upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain to display and exchange the latest products and technologies to jointly promote the development of the Micro LED display industry.

 


Since 2017, the Micro LED display event has been successfully held for five sessions, spanning the three major fields of display, LED and semiconductor, building a communication platform for the global Micro LED display industry, and has become a benchmark activity for the global Micro LED industry, a vane of technology development trends and industrial development trends.

 

The conference not only invited nearly 20 academicians, scholars, experts, and benchmarking enterprise leaders to discuss the development of the Micro LED display industry from multiple perspectives of production, education and research, but also jointly organized by a number of industry associations, opening up the resource link of display, LED, and semiconductor upstream, midstream and downstream industrial chains, and a number of core enterprises in the industrial chain have released the latest products and technologies.

 

As the next generation of display technology, Micro-LED has the characteristics of high resolution, low power consumption, high brightness, high contrast, high color saturation, fast response speed, thin thickness and long life. However, at present, there are still technical difficulties such as massive transfer and subsequent detection and packaging of Micro LED displays, and the high cost of products makes the market potential of Micro LED still need to be further stimulated. Academicians, experts and representatives of industrial chain enterprises at the meeting presented the latest research results and put forward effective solutions for different technical difficulties and blockages.

 

Mini LED/Micro LED Technology & Development

 

Geng Juncheng, Vice President of Chipone, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Mini LED Driver Development Status and Micro LED Technology Roadmap" on the current situation of technology development, focusing on the company's technology accumulation and industry contribution in the field of new display from the perspective of driver IC technology, a key link in the industrial chain.

 


Dr. Geng Juncheng mainly introduced the company's Mini LED driver development, core technology and product breakthroughs in the direction of silicon-based OLED. As a technical extension of traditional LED display, the gradual reduction of the dot spacing of Mini LED display will multiply the technical difficulty of chip design. Smaller LEDs are close to the limit of PCB process requirements, and problems such as power consumption and heat generation, and consistency of display effect are also more prominent, while Chipone has solved the above difficult problems through circuit optimization, architecture optimization, hardware-level correction, coupling crosstalk processing, PAM hybrid drive dimming and other methods to ensure better display effect.

 

At the same time, the proposal of the concept of the metaverse and the XR virtual display market have boosted the "new round of revolution" of display technologies such as silicon-based OLED and Micro LED. Compared with other technical routes, silicon-based OLED display technology can now achieve a display effect close to 4K PPI and has the potential to be further improved, which is the best technical route for future products in the VR/MR field.

 

Chipone has keenly captured the emerging market demand in the field of XR near-eye display, and has been deeply engaged in the field of silicon-based OLED driver chips for many years, and has now put corresponding high-specification products into mass production. One of them, a 1.3-inch 4K microdisplay silicon-based OLED integrated display driver chip for VR/MR ICNU1510 has won the 18th "China Chip" Excellent Technology Innovation Product Award.

 

The chip supports up to 4K*4K resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 4032PPI pixel density and 5000nits brightness, adopts international leading design, specifications and processes, lower power consumption, and overall performance is at the leading level in the industry.

 

In order to further improve the performance of Micro OLED display, Chipone has introduced its self-developed Foveated Rendering technology and DEMURA algorithm into the display driver chip ICNU1510, which effectively solves the problem of viewing area rendering, improves display uniformity, and greatly improves the VR/MR device experience.
